Switches & Buttons

A shame we do not have them

The other day a friend said to me: “When they put me on planet earth, they forgot to install the obey button… and a few other useful mechanisms…”

It was a good laugh.

Unfortunately we don’t have buttons or switches – more unfortunate yet – we believe we do.

Finding a source of energy, sorting out a mess, changing a behaviour, understanding a pattern – it all takes time and a lot of it, too.

Better not rush?

Sometimes I think, what we really lack most might be TIME.

All we do is rush – ourselves and others. We rush a couple into having children, we rush our children into becoming well functioning entities for our society and once they are “installed” they are rushed to keep moving. We are rushed until we become too ill to cope with anything or we die or we are finally send into retirement with the express hope, that we might not stay on too long.
But what if we had time? Would we wonder, who we are? What we want? And would we find answers? Would we wonder what best to do with the little time we get to live on this planet? Would we try to find out, what might be important to us as individuals and actually go for it?
Many a question, we can only hope to find an answer to, if we take the time and don’t allow whoever to rush us.
